Jerry's Story
I have been a Jet Aircraft Mechanic (F-4C), Commercial Fisherman, Hardware and (Radio Shack) Sales Manager, a Divemaster, Computer/Electronics Technician/Sales rep., Acrylic Fabricator (Aquariums), Slot/Gaming Machine Technician, Auto Mechanic, Carpenter, Roofer, Plumber, Electrician and more. The proverbial "Jack of All Trades".
Although I graduated from Highlands High School (near Sacramento), I still consider Tulare Union High School my home school because Tulare was my home town where I grew up the first 15 years of my life. Where I went to school with the same kids from kindergarten thru high school.
When my dad got his job as a Calif. Fish and Game Warden we moved to the Sacramento area in North Highlands, CA. Highlands H.S. was mostly Air Force family kids who were moving around the country (and world) every couple of years For most of their lives. I knew few of them very well. And lost track of most of them almost immediately after we graduated.
I enlisted in the Air Force shortly after high school. and after Basic Training and Tech School was assigned to Yokota AB, Japan where I was an F4-C Jet Aircraft Maintenance Specialist and spent the remainder of of my tour of duty.
My father had transferred to the small logging, fishing, and tourist town of Fort Bragg, Ca (not to be confused with the Army Fort Bragg, NC) and I went there after I was discharged from the Air ...Expand for more
Force and spent the next 25 years.
I married my wife Brenda in 1976 in Fort Bragg, Ca. We have a son, Jerry Wonderly Perkins II (38) who lives here in Colorado as a Computer Tech for IBM and daughter, Krystal Heather Strickland(37) and 3 grandsons (Trystin, Caleb, & Isaiah) living in Fort Bragg, CA. where she and our Son in Law Kristopher Strickland are Ministers at the Assembly of God Church.
My Interests are Scuba Diving, Camping, Fly Tying and Fishing, Hunting and Shooting, Gardening, 4X4 Off-Roading, and Rock-hounding (prospecting), Lapidary and Jewelry Making and Photography.
I have lived in Tulare, CA (birth to 1964 and 1971), North Highlands, CA (' 64 to '66), Hanford, CA ('66 to '67), Yokota Air Base, Japan ('67 to '71), Fort Bragg, CA ('71 to '94), Las Vegas, NV ('94 to '06), Yoder, CO ('06 to present)
I am disabled (with a bad back (scoliosis), both hips replaced, and open heart quad. bypass surgery) and retired. My wife and I own a 40 acre farm at (3950 Sengbeil Rd, Yoder, Co 80864) on the plains East of Colorado Springs, CO where we have a large garden, a couple of horses, some goats, Llamas, Peacocks, turkeys, geese, ducks, chickens, dogs and cats. (Brenda is a Gen. Manager of an Arby's in Colorado Springs) This is where I and my wife plan to spend the remainder of our lives (when we're not traveling). Though it's hard to get away with so many animals to take care of.
